3: WHO IS RUNNING THE EVENT? WHO IS PUTTING THE EVENT TOGETHER?
The same staff from the very successful 2016 -2020 showcase series is back. The event is being put together by a collective group of premier High School coaches and instructors from: Long Island, New York City, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. All staff have college playing and/or coaching experience. Each event has a staff of at least 12 to help ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible and college coaches are focused on the student-athletes.
4: DO PLAYERS TRAVEL TO YOUR EVENT? WILL YOU HOLD EVENTS IN OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY?
YES, we have had players from all 50 states and four countries attend our events over the last several years. Our events are located in the “hub” of both the most college baseball programs (within 180 mile radius) and the highest concentration of academic colleges (within 180 mile radius). For those reasons, an event this magnitude with this list of schools will ONLY be held in this region. Whether it is the IVY league schools or Vanderbilt, Duke, Penn St., Johns Hopkins, St. John’s, Richmond, North Carolina and many others, this is the most convenient location and that is why it is a destination for players from all over the country. Two years ago we had 39 players from California, 45 from Florida and 31 from Texas.
5: WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR WHEN THE NCAA MADE THEIR RULING?
We were disappointed for our players, coaches, families and staff when the NCAA made their ruling not allowing Division 1 coaches to attend. While many other events and showcases went on without those coaches, we felt the integrity of our event was most important and we issued a FULL REFUND (not credit) to all players that signed up. We were happy to have an alternative event (I95 Metro Baseball 5 Tool Combine).
5A: WHAT HAPPENS IF D1 COACHES CAN’T ATTEND THIS SUMMER?
While we highly doubt the quiet period will be extended into July, if our D1 coaches can NOT attend our events, a FULL refund will be issued. Our events will never take place without the full complement of coaches. We only host the premier events in the country and our D1 coaches are an integral part of it.
6: DO YOUR EVENTS SELL OUT?
Yes, we are proud to say our last 14 events have sold out and with us limiting players this Summer and the need for coaches to recruit and scout in person more than ever, we expect our events to sell out well in advance especially after the lost 2020 season.
7: HOW MANY PLAYERS AT YOUR SHOWCASE? ARE THEY SPLIT UP?
YES. Our showcase is great because we will never have more than 110 position players on the field at once on day one and never more than 75 players on day two because we split our showcase into shifts. We also limit our positions to a certain amount to ensure each prospect receives proper exposures. Other events/tournaments have 225+ players on the field at the same time, on multiple fields where the coaches don’t get to focus on YOU or your son. Other events/tournaments have coaches spread out sometimes on to 6 fields or TWO different locations.
We make sure each position has its own “showcase spotlight”. Coaches are not distracted by anything else going on.
Please remember though, the reason we have the most coaches in the country is because they know there will be a lot of talent at our event from all over the east coast.
8: WILL BATTING PRACTICE TAKE PLACE IN THE CAGES OR ON THE FIELD?
Our BP sessions will take place on the field with all coaches watching from less than 25 feet away.
9: ARE THERE LOCAL AIRPORTS FOR THE EVENT?
The following airports are all less than 1 hour drive from Arm & Hammer Park:
• Newark Liberty Airport (EWR)
• Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
• John F Kennedy Airport (JFK)
• LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
• Trenton Mercer Airport (TTN)
• Atlantic City Airport (ACY)
10: DO YOU RECOMMEND ANY HOTELS?
All players/parents are free to choose any hotel.
Here are a few we recommend:
• Hyatt Regency Princeton
• Hilton Garden Inn Hamilton
• Courtyard by Marriott Ewing Princeton
11: WHAT TIME IS THE I95 METRO BASEBALL STADIUM SERIES?
Our I95 Metro Baseball Showcase will have two or three shifts on day one and three game times on day two.
Our showcase will NOT start before 7:30AM and not end past 7:30PM. Your session times will be posted 72 hours prior to the event.
No requests. We break our “session times” by positions and graduation classes and format the event so each player receives maximum exposure. Each session will be between 3-4.5 hours.
12: WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF BAD WEATHER?
Our events are RAIN or SHINE.
In the event of bad weather we will do everything in our power to have the players exposed to the coaches as much as possible including extending hours on one or both days. We know how important this is to you and your family and we recognize that. We also have professional indoor facilities for use. An event will never be canceled or moved for any reason.
13: DO PLAYERS ATTEND MULTIPLE SHOWCASES?
Of course! Each event is another chance to be seen. In addition each event will have 15-20% different coaches. Many players will attend both.
14: WILL YOU HAVE MULTIPLE FIELDS GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME DURING GAME DAY?
No. This is a huge advantage for your son. Too many showcases have games going on two, three or four fields with scouts spread out. Most scouts are at the one game looking at certain players, but not at our showcase. We will have a centralized location where all the game action will take place.
15: HOW DO YOU RECORD THE MEASURABLES?
Our professional staff is responsible for recording all measurables through the two day event, including: Positional velocity, pitching velocity, exit speed, POP time, 60 yd. dash. These are sent to all coaches 7 days after the event and all players and parents 21 days after the events.
16: WILL I-95 METRO BASEBALL SHOWCASE SEND THIS INFORMATION TO COLLEGE COACHES?
YES. Every coach/school that attends, will have full access to the data sheet 7 days after the event. We feel it is important that we are able to track the progress of each player each season and to have on file when they are recruiting.
17: WHAT IF MY SON IS A TWO WAY PLAYER?
Over the course of the two days players will perform both, please note coaches want to see you at your BEST only.
18: WHAT IF MY SON IS A PITCHER ONLY?
Pitchers are far and away the most sought after position. Their verified metrics, profile and fact they pitch on BOTH days make this a CAN’T MISS event for pitchers. Price and schedule remains the same.
19: WILL PLAYERS EAT LUNCH?
No. We will have two sessions (AM/PM) and we want to maximize our time on the field.
20: WILL MY SON RECEIVE A VIDEO FOR THE STADIUM SHOWCASE SERIES?
No, our focus this summer will be on the stadium series experience and our incredible college coaches.
21: WHAT DOES TEAM REPRESENTED MEAN? DO ANY SCHOOLS BACK OUT?
The school will send their: head coach, assistant coach, pitching coach or recruiting coordinator. Most schools are sending their head recruiting coordinators, assistant coach or pitching coach but more than several have their head coaching attending. Our coaches will be there day 1 and/or day 2. Some coaches prefer to see game action, some coaches prefer to see skill evaluation. Some coaches because of their schedule can only attend one day. 90%our schools/coaches will be there both days. The specific coaches names will be posted at least 2 weeks prior to the event and will be on the home-page.
The schools you see on our confirmed list have confirmed at least THREE times with us they will be at the event. Sometimes there is a rare case of a family emergency, where a school/coach can’t make it or the coach is no longer with the school. Last year 92.3% of our coaches attended.
22: HOW MUCH PLAYING TIME IN THE GAME WILL MY SON RECEIVE?
We have a “dynamic” game set-up, which is structured differently than a regular game. Each primary pitcher is guaranteed to throw to at least 4 batters. Each primary fielder is guaranteed to play 4 innings. Not all secondary pitchers will pitch in the game, but most will. Each primary position player is guaranteed 2 at-bats in the game. All games held on one field in front of all coaches.
23: PITCHERS – WHY DID THEY THROW AT THE END OF THE SESSION AND HOW MUCH DO THEY THROW?
Freshman pitchers in college are rarely starting pitchers. The staff & college coaches want to see how pitchers spend their down time and how effective they are after being at the ballpark for hours. This decision comes from our dialogue with college coaches. Please remember every primary pitcher is throwing both days and many secondary pitchers will throw on both days (all will throw on day one). We want to ensure that pitchers still had enough gas in the tank after the bullpen session for the game the next day. More is not “better” in this case. Each pitcher will throw a 9-10 pitch bullpen on day one and all primary (many secondary) pitchers will throw to four-five batters on day two.
24: WHAT SHOULD WE DO IF INTERESTED IN A CERTAIN SCHOOL?
Our suggestion for you moving forward is to email any and all schools that were confirmed to be at our event and let them know your interest (and your ID number). Let them know WHY you are interested in the school and what you can bring to the school, classroom and the baseball team. Ask when their camps are being held.
25: WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN ONLY ATTEND ONE DAY?
You are more than welcome. We can not discount our rate because we are limiting the numbers of players per session. Your information will be sent out to every coach in attendance (even on the day you aren’t there).
26: ARE THERE PAYMENT PLANS?
No there are not. We have several up-front costs upon sign-up. We take our commitment to you very seriously.
27: WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Requests received at least ten (10) days PRIOR to the start of the purchased event will receive a credit in the amount of 50% of the purchasing price. This is for ANY reason. This credit is valid for 12 months and can be used for our I95 Metro Baseball Stadium Series events. Any “request” for a credit less than five (10) days prior to the start of the purchased event will forfeit their registration fees. NO EXCEPTIONS. I95 Metro Baseball runs the premier events in the country and has up-front fees and commitments paid out prior to each event. Cancelations within ten (10) days of the event impact us in a negative way.
28: WHAT IF MY SON GETS INJURED?
We will have a medical staff member. Our staff also has members that are CPR certified and Concussion certified. Any serious injury, an ambulance will be called. There are no refunds or credits for injuries.
29: WHAT TYPE OF BATS SHOULD WE USE?
ALL players will use -3 BBCOR
30: CAN PLAYERS WEAR CLEATS?
YES. Players MUST also have turf shoes/sneakers in case any indoor facilities will be used.
31: DOES I95 METRO BASEBALL SUPPORT ANY CHARITY?
Yes. I-95 Metro Baseball is proud to partner with Go4theGoal® to help support kids who are battling cancer and their families. Through our participation in Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer®, Go4theGoal® will be able to provide financial assistance, grant wishes, implement unique hospital programs and fund innovative research.
